Subramanian receiving the guard of honour salute from more than 3500 athletes across 28 States<\/em><\/p>\n<p><strong>Chennai (Tamil Nadu [India], April 28:<\/strong> The Masters Athletic Federation of India, affiliated with the Asian Masters Athletics and the World Masters Athletics, are organizing the Philip Capital 42<sup>nd<\/sup>\u00a0National Masters Athletics Championship 2022. Chennai, which was flagged off after a grand opening ceremony on\u00a0Wednesday. The Championships will continue till\u00a0May 1.\u00a0The Philip Capital National Masters championship qualifies Master Athletes to compete at the Asian and World Athletic Championships.<\/p>\n<p>The opening ceremony witnessed more than 3500 athletes competing from across 28 states in India, with a total of 22 Athletic disciplines across 13 age categories, making it the largest athletic competition.<\/p>\n<p>The Opening Ceremony was inaugurated by<strong>\u00a0<\/strong>Shri<strong>\u00a0Udhayanidhi\u00a0Stalin<\/strong> &#8211;\u00a0a Member of the Tamil Nadu Legislative Assembly, Presided by Shri<strong>\u00a0MA Subramanian,\u00a0<\/strong>Minister for Health &amp; Family Welfare, in the presence of Shri<strong>\u00a0Siva. V. Meyyanathan<\/strong>\u00a0Minister for Environment, Youth Welfare and Sports Development,\u00a0Mrs.\u00a0<strong>Margit\u00a0Jungmann<\/strong>\u00a0President World Masters Athletics, (Germany) Mr.<strong>\u00a0Stanley Perkin<\/strong>\u00a0Life\u00a0President World Masters Athletics (Australia) and\u00a0other Eminent Leaders and personalities.<\/p>\n<p>Mr.\u00a0<strong>D David Premnath<\/strong>, Secretary-General of Masters Athletics Federation of India, said, &#8220;Adapting to the new normal and reviving back to sport from the unprecedented impacts of the COVID-19 Pandemic is the need of the hour.
